Steven Ireland has failed to convince new Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier of his worth at Villa Park and now looks to be on his way out. According to skysports.com Newcastle are in the frame to end the former Manchester City player's miserable time in the midlands.
A number of Premier League clubs are keen on the former City star, who only joined Villa last summer but as one of their highest earners they are keen to him offloaded.
Newcastle are now believed to be in advanced talks with Villa over a loan deal.
