Curtis Davies has called on Aston Villa fans to stop barracking teammate Gabriel Agbonlahor.
"Gabby's only 22," said Davies. "He's played a lot of games this season, especially when he was leading the line on his own.
"It was obviously very tiring because he had to do a bit more work.
"No matter what people have got to say about Gabby, he's a very important player for us.
"If people want to criticise him now because things aren't going right, when he does start scoring I'd rather them not cheer him.
"With the way things were going for fans to then turn round and be a little bit negative towards him... if he scores next week they'd soon be singing 'Gabby, Gabby, Gabby Agbonlahor'.
"It's a fickle game football, but that's the nature of it. Hopefully he does get the goals and then his critics will start bigging him up again."
