Crocked Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies admits he has ambitions of winning back his England squad place.
He told Villa's website: "Getting the call into the England squad earlier this year was a massive boost which wasn't expected and it gave me the aim to make the squad in the future because I finally knew I was in their (coaches) minds.
"I have hit some of my targets earlier than I expected but I wouldn't call it success because I got an initial call up. I wasn't in the England 23.
"I would have liked to have played more games this season with Villa too, so I can't really call it a success, but in the short amount of games I have played, I have managed to bring myself up to a level where hopefully people will take notice. Now I have to get fit."
Davies added: "It is up to me to force my way back in. I need to be at the best of my game if I am going to force my way back and I suppose then the next World Cup would be something to aim for.
"As someone coming through I have tried to set myself targets and I'd like to think that if I could pick up my form, I could be involved in the squad in the future.
"I am not saying I am going to be a regular starter for England but I would like to be involved by the next World Cup in South Africa because I would be 25 then."
