Curtis Davies rates new Aston Villa teammate Brad Friedel as one of the best signings of the summer.

The fit-again defender told avfc.co.uk: "Brad's experience is unmatched and he looked very solid. Look at the penalty save he made, that's not a bad start on your debut.

"He's been one of the very best in the Premier League for years now and there's plenty of football left in him. He could be one of the signings of the summer.

"Away from that his all-round game just keeps you on your toes and I'm sure he'll prove to be a great acquisition for us.

"Hopefully he won't have too many more penalties to save once the season gets underway though!"
