Villa's Carson to get England nod

Aston Villa goalkeeper Scott Carson is set to get the nod from England boss Steve McClaren for tomorrow night's clash against Croatia.

Carson won his first cap in the 1-0 win in Vienna and McClaren may take the bold move of retaining the keeper, currently on loan at Aston Villa from Liverpool, for the 90,000 sell-out in the new stadium, says the Daily Mail.

Carson's England team-mates were raving about his performance in training on Monday and would welcome his inclusion.

Paul Robinson has had an up-and-down season so far at club level but has kept three clean sheets in the past four games under new Spurs manager Juande Ramos, who replaced Martin Jol.

While McClaren has already refused to confirm that the Tottenham keeper will be selected against Croatia, the rest of his team is coming together.
