Andre Villas-Boas lost the backing of Tottenham powerbroker Joe Lewis in the final weeks of his reign, it has been revealed.
The London Evening Standard says the breakdown in relations with owner Joe Lewis, understood to be a clash of personalities, left his position untenable and chairman Daniel Levy pulled the trigger.
Before yesterday's rout at least two board members were thought to be questioning his methods and now Villas-Boas has paid the price for not being flexible enough.
