Villas-Boas admits to other offers prior to Tottenham move

Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that there were a few offers for his services before he took the job at Tottenham.

The Portuguese tactician was sacked by Chelsea in March but is already back in the Premier League after taking over at Spurs following the sacking of Harry Redknapp.

34-year old Villas-Boas was the target for a number of other clubs when he was out of work but insists that he waited for the right club to come forward with the right offer.

"Since I stopped there have been a couple of discussions with other clubs, of course," he told the club's official website.

"I think a couple of them were even made public but I was always willing to wait for the right opportunity at the right time.

"After the Chelsea step it was important I chose somewhere where I was surrounded by the right commitment and the right people."

He added: "I think my career has been steadily going up and I see this as a step forward.

"The club is very solid in the way they support the first team, there is much more emotional warmth in this club, and this is important.

"Based on that I want to commit myself to the fact that I was given this opportunity at such an important club and make sure I repay the confidence that was given to me to lead this club forward."
