Villa's Barry eager to be part of Capello plans

Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry is confident of being part of Fabio Capello's England plans.

The 26-year-old told avfc.co.uk: "I try not to think about the England situation too much and try to keep playing well for my club. If you do that, hopefully the rewards come with it.

"It's a difficult one with England. Nobody knows what the new manager's thinking, how he'll approach things or who he'll pick for his squad.

"But we do know he'll be looking at his squads and assessing players, so if you're doing well you'll give yourself a chance."

Barry believes the new man at the helm has what it takes to turn England's fortunes around.

He added: "It would be good to work with Fabio Capello, you only have to look at what he's achieved in the game.

"I'm working with a top club manager in Martin O'Neill and it would be great to work with another top manager at international level.

"Every manager you work with you try and learn and try to pick thing up. That's definitely been the case with Martin O'Neill. I've tried to learn from the way he approaches things.

"Now, touch wood, I can hopefully learn things from Fabio Capello. His record speaks for itself and I'm sure he's got a knack of improving players as well."
