Villa's Agbonlahor gutted missing England chance

Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor admits he's gutted to have missed out on England training this week due to a hamstring injury.

"I am really disappointed. It's annoying but I suppose these things happen in football," the speedy striker told Villa's website. "I haven't been injured for two seasons so I can't really complain that I have had a torrid time out on the sidelines.

"The injury is nothing serious, so at least I am not out for months with a problem.

"I am just gutted because I was really looking forward to getting a chance under the new England manager. But the likes of Ledley and Emile have had the same problem so I shouldn't complain too much.

"To have been picked in his squad means I am in his plans, which is a boost. To have been selected ahead of the likes of Jermain Defoe, Darren Bent, Andy Johnson - players I really admire - is a great honour.

"I'll be cheering on Gareth, Scott and Ashley now - let's hope they all get some time on the pitch to show what they can do."
