Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has urged Davide Santon to quit Inter Milan and earn his place in Italy's World Cup squad.

"It will be his decision whether he leaves or stays at Inter," said former Manchester United striker Rossi.

"What I can say is that this proves the difficulty we young players have in getting space at important Italian clubs.

"I left in order to play regularly and I am very satisfied with my choice."
