Villarreal's Edmilson stands by Barcelona "black sheep" comments

Villarreal defender Edmilson stands by his "black sheep" comments last season while at Barcelona.

The Brazilian faces his former teammates for the first time since leaving Barca in the summer and told El Mundo Deportivo: "When I did that interview, I spoke in general terms of the players, not just one or two.

"Our career goes very quickly and my intention was to alert all of us, as we are well paid, we must assume responsibilities, but I did not point the finger at anyone.

"People speculated I was against Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o, Marquez ... but I had no intention of targeting anybody.

"Yeah, I complained that things were not working well within the club."

On former coach Frank Rijkaard, Edmilson added: "Frank was always the same. When we won the league and the Champions League and also in recent seasons. The difference is that before we were much more committed to fighting and winning.

"He went many times to press conferences to support us when people believed that there were players who were not injured. All those who participated in the last two years, we are guilty, guilty as we were all those who had won trophies before."
