Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is pushing for an Italy start in their World Cup qualifier against Cyprus.
Rossi sat out the 2-2 draw in the Republic of Ireland, but struck a hat-trick for Italy in yesterday's friendly victory over Empoli's youth team.
Rossi seemed to be in fine form as part of a new 3-4-3 system with Alberto Gilardino and Fabio Quagliarella.
