Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is being linked with Liverpool.
Spanish sources say armed with NESV's transfer fighting fund, Reds boss Roy Hodgson wants to bring Rossi back to the Northwest in January.
Rossi had three years at Manchester United before being sold to Villarreal, where he is now regarded among the best young strikers on the continent.
It's suggested Rossi is disappointed with the lack of serious interest from Serie A clubs over the summer and is now willing to return to England.
