Villarreal look to have won the race for Tottenham's wantaway winger Giovani do Santos.
The Mexico international is keen to leave White Hart Lane this winter after being given limited opportunities by Harry Redknapp and it appears as though he could be on his way to El Madrigal.
Officials from the Yellow Submarine have been locked in talks with Tottenham since Monday with vice-president Jose Manuel Llaneza suggesting a deal will shortly be complete.
"The deal is not finalised, but we expect a solution by the weekend. Villarreal needs more attacking players.""The negotiations are well on the way and it seems like the player wants to come to Villarreal," said Llaneza.
It is believed that a £4million transfer fee will be accepted as dos Santos gets set to head Spain's east coast despite interest from Bolton, Granada and Sevilla.
