Villarreal are set to secure first refusal on two of Argentina's brightest young players as they prepare to sell Juan Roman Riquelme to Boca Juniors.

La Nacion says Villarreal are demanding £6 million for Riquelme, but are prepared to reduce their asking price if Boca grant them first option on Ever Banega and Rodrigo Palacio.

Boca are considering the proposal, having already struck terms with Riquelme over a three-year contract scheduled to begin on December 1.

Meanwhile, it's emerged that Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who is currently in Argentina, is also keeping contact with both Villarreal and Boca as they'll be due a sell-on fee from Riquelme's sale.
