Jose Molina has been sacked by Villarreal after their 1-0 defeat to Levante.

The loss was Villarreal's third in a row in the Primera Division and left them one place and three points above the drop zone.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Villarreal have decided to terminate the contract of Jose Molina as first-team coach after the defeat against Levante.

"The club appreciates the job Molina did and wishes him luck in his professional career. His successor in the role has yet to be determined."
