Villarreal striker Marco Ruben is set to sign a four-and-a-half year deal with Wigan Athletic.

The 23-year old Argentine is expected to complete the move on Tuesday after the clubs agreed a £7million fee.

Ruben has been with the Spanish club since January 2008 and during that time had a spell with Recreativo Huelva. He began his career in 2004 with Rosario Central before joining Argentine giants River Plate in 200.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez has now found a suitable partner to play up front with Colombian goalscorer Hugo Rodallega.
