Villarreal president Fernando Roig admits they could have handled the sale of Juan Roman Riquelme to Boca Juniors in a better manner.

He said: "It could have possibly been better solved and there were options to do so. I cannot deny that it was an operation in which the club lost money and that it has not been the best one, but we are absolutely not unhappy by how everything has finished.

"The important thing is that we always knew clearly the way to continue and a year later it seems that we guessed right and that the decisions that we took were correct."
