Villarreal president Fernando Roig admits they've failed in a move for Atletico Madrid striker Adrian.

Villarreal made enquiries about Los Colchoneros' forward, but Roig revealed Atletico snubbed their interest.

"Adrian is a player that did interest us, but they said no," Roig revealed.

"After found out the extent of Rossi's injury we made contact with Atletico to make an offer."
