Marca says Villarreal president Fernando Roig will bid for Canales after selling Santi Cazorla to Malaga yesterday.
Villarreal now have the cash to tempt Real into selling Canales outright.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists Canales will only leave on-loan this season, though a major offer from Villarreal could change his thinking.
