Villarreal are interested in Valencia defender Carlos Marchena.

With Diego Godin attracting interest from bigger clubs, Las Provincias says Villarreal chiefs are eyeing Marchena as a potential replacement.

Marchena, 31, has also attracted offers from Portugal and France, with Valencia seeking around €3.5 million for his transfer.

Villarreal president Francisco Roig is keen on the experienced campaigner, who can play both at the back and in midfield.
