Marcos Senna was the saviour for New York Cosmos as they completed a dramatic comeback against Tampa Bay Rowdies in the North American Soccer League (NASL) on the weekend.
The 37-year old former Spain international sunk a late free-kick to allow the Cosmos to secure a 4-3 victory after trailing 3-1 with less than half-an-hour remaining.
Senna was named the NASL Player of the Week for his efforts and was delighted he could contribute to keeping the Cosmos on top of the fall season table after nine matches.
"Scoring a goal in that kind of situation was a great feeling because it put us on top and helped the team win," the former Villarreal captain said.
"I am very glad it was a very important goal, above all else. Now it's behind us though, and time to get ready for Minnesota."
Cosmos head coach Giovanni Saravese added: "You can tell that a player with the quality of Marcos Senna is able to put in that goal and that it was going to be the winner. Marcos was able to score a beautiful goal."
