Brazilian midfielder Ricardo Villar is in Frisco to complete a medical ahead of signing for FC Dallas.
The 31-year old will start training with FCD this week once the physical is passed, returning to US soccer for the first time since playing with Pittsburgh Riverhounds in 2004. Prior to that he played for Hampton Roads Mariners and under Dallas’ technical director Barry Gorman at Penn State.
Since those days, Villar moved to Austria to join SV Salzburg, Korea with Chunnam Dragons, Germany to join Kaiserslautern and then SpVgg Unterhaching, before heading to Greece with Rodos.
He then returned to Unterhaching in the summer to play 10 matches in Germany’s 3.Liga.
