Villa youngster Hogg farmed out to Portsmouth on loan

Portsmouth have moved quickly to bolster their threadbare squad by signing Aston Villa midfielder Jonathan Hogg on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old has interested a raft of English Championship clubs but Pompey are the one who pushed through a deal and Hogg could be drafted straight into the squad to face Burnley tonight.

Hogg has only recently signed a long-term contract at Villa Park having impressed new boss Gerard Houllier.

"Jonathan has competed very well in the games he has played this season and this loan move will greatly assist in his career development," Houllier told the club's official website.
