Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner could see action before the end of the season.

Gardner joined in with the rest of Paul Lambert's senior squad yesterday for the first time since his cruciate ligament operation eight months ago, having resumed light exercises last month, says the Birmingham Mail.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been pencilled in for his first competitive action in the under-21s match at Fulham on Sunday.
