Aston Villa's Fabian Delph says he is determined to fight back from injury and work his way into Alex McLeish's first team.
The 21-year old former Leeds United midfielder has found it difficult to become a regular at Villa Park but insists that once he gets over his most recent ankle injury he will be making selection choices difficult for new boss McLeish.
"I managed to tear the ligament in between the fibula and tibia in the last game of the season. I got pushed in the back and got my studs caught and twisted and just opened up the joints," he told Express & Star.
"I'm three or four weeks into it the rehab now, so I think another three to four weeks and I should be fine, touch wood. I should be back by probably the second or third week in July.
"I'll still be able to run so I'll be doing my fitness, I just won't be able to work with the boys.
"Once I've overcome this injury and got a few of the pre-season games in I'll be sharp and the same as I was before I did my knee.
"Hopefully I can get playing and get back to my old ways."
