Aston Villa youngster Ciaran Clark has hailed the leadership of club captain Stiliyan Petrov.

The former Celtic midfielder took over the captaincy in the summer following Martin Laursen's retirement.

Clark told Four Four Two magazine: "I obviously played with him when I made my full debut against Fulham and I train with him every day. He's a quality player.

"His vision has given us a real edge. His communication is top drawer as well. He talks to you during the game, which can be a real help for a young player."
