Villa youngster Bannan: Why I rejected Celtic as kid

Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan has revealed how Celtic allowed him to slip through their net.

Celtic ended up losing him because they left the youngster soaked to the skin without a change of kit - and that could prove a costly oversight.

Bannan told the Daily Star: "I'm a Celtic fan. I was playing for them as a kid and we had signed a form to say I was going to sign for them.

"But I played a practice game and they didn't give me any kit. It was raining quite hard and I had to train in my own kit and had to travel home in it.

"After the game, my dad said I should ask for the forms back.

"Dad told me it was up to me, but I'd decided I didn't want to go to Celtic. I'd made my mind up after seeing what it was all about."
