Aston Villa won't open new contract talks with Christian Benteke and Andi Weimann before they're sure of Premier League safety.
Benteke, 22, has three years on his deal but is set to be offered better terms and an extra year.
The 19-goal Belgian scored in the 3-1 win over Stoke as Paul Lambert's side hauled themselves out of the bottom three.
But Villa fear that talks would distract from the focus of securing top-flight status and the visit of Fulham this Saturday.
Austria striker Weimann, 21, has 11 goals and his deal ends next summer.
