Aston Villa winger Ashley Young has defended Martin O'Neill's selection for their UEFA Cup exit at CSKA Moscow.
He said: "I don't think the manager can ever be criticised. From the time he has come in he has done a brilliant job.
"If there's anyone out there saying he hasn't then they are wrong because everyone knows he's done such a good job and he's brought the club a long way in the little space of time he's been here.
"Everyone is always ready to come into the team and do well.
"The manager has brought in Emile Heskey in January whose added to the squad. We've had injuries for the last few games but everyone's back fit now and everybody wants a place in the team.
"Everybody's hungry to get in the team, so you are always kept on your toes by the people who are not in the squad. And if you are not performing you know there is someone behind you wanting to take your place."
