Aston Villa are launching a new bid for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.

The Daily Mail says the England striker has told Tottenham he will not sign a new contract at the club after Martin Jol gave the striker just 15 minutes as a substitute in the 4-0 victory over Derby.

Defoe has seen precious little action this season, making three substitute appearances which have amounted to just 56 minutes in the Premier League so far.
