Aston Villa have been boosted in their chase for Bayern Munich's Mark van Bommel with the news the German skipper is keen on a move to England. The Holland international will be out of contract in the summer and Bayern are looking to cash in on the player rather than let him leave for free at the end of the season.
There are also reports that AC Milan have been offered the 33-year-old midfielder, while Gerard Houllier remains keen to bring some experience to his Villa squad.
Van Bommel's representative, Mino Raiola, told De Telegraaf when asked about an approach to Milan: "And a couple of English clubs. None of them directly declined.
"There is some interest, but not serious yet. Many clubs will think about it. Mark prefers to move to England."
