Villa striker Bent admits England need Man Utd's Rooney

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent admits England need Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney to be successful.

Bent admits that England's next boss will struggle to cope without Rooney, while he serves a two-match ban at the start of the Euros, with the Manchester United man missing clashes with France and Sweden.

"You always want your best players out there and Wayne's probably our best player," he said.

"It's going to be difficult without him because he's a fantastic player.

"But we now need to find ways how to cope for the first two games without him.

"Whoever takes charge from here will maybe have an inkling of how to do it. We did well against Spain without him.

"It would obviously be a lot easier if Wayne was in the team but unfortunately he's not."
