Villa striker Agbonlahor confident of England place

Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor is upbeat about his chances of winning a place in England's World Cup squad.

"If you look at the strikers England have got then there's big competition," said Agbonlahor, who has not featured for England since winning his second cap in the 2-0 defeat in Spain in February.

"Darren Bent is on fire, there's Jermain Defoe, Em's doing really well for England, [Wayne] Rooney is banging goals in too - and then there's Carlton Cole who is knocking on the door and Michael Owen, who over the course of the season you know will start scoring goals regularly.

"It means you've got to be scoring yourself if you want to be in there and get your own name up. I've got two out of four [in the Premier League] so far, so as long as I keep it going, and right through to the end of the season, that will hopefully get me on that plane."
