Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar says there's a lot to be about excited about going into next season.

Vlaar feels the current squad has huge room for improvement.

"We must learn from the mistakes we have made," he said.

"The base is good, we need to build. Look at the number of players that had experience in the Premier League, actually it was only Gabby (Agbonlahor). For most guys this was the first year in this league."
