Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar is keen on a move to Southampton.
Vlaar now has less than a year to run on his current deal.
The Express & Star says Southampton apparently lead the race to sign Vlaar, which is thought to be his favoured option over Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers if he leaves the claret and blues.
