Villa skipper Vlaar backing Benteke for goals

Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar is confident Christian Benteke won't get down over his miss against Tottenham last week.

Benteke missed a sitter against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in his last appearance in a Villa shirt, and skipper Vlaar confirmed the squad will rally round him to get his confidence back up.

"I think Christian is most disappointed himself about that miss. It has happened, we cannot change anything about it and we will just have to move forward," said Vlaar.

"Of course the experienced guys can help Christian now. He knows he had to score that one, you don't have to tell him because he knows.

"He is a striker and he wants to score every chance he can get. He was unlucky but he will get the next one. He will just look forward to the next game. He is a very easy-going guy and he works very hard."
