Villa skipper Petrov eyeing more goals after Everton screamer

Aston Villa skipper Stiliyan Petrov is eyeing more goals after his effort against Everton.

He currently stands on nine goals in claret and blue and wants to achieve double figures at Loftus Road this weekend.

He told Villa's website: "I'm now just one short of double figures for Villa and I can promise you I will be looking to score on a more regular basis in the future.

"I was obviously pleased with my goal two weeks ago at Everton because it went in from a good distance.

"I'm the first person to criticise myself for not getting more because that was only my ninth in five years since I came here.

"But that's partly because I have been asked to operate in a deeper role over the past few seasons. I still need to do that but I've been given more licence to go forward more and try to score more goals.

"Hopefully they'll be more to follow after that one at Goodison Park.

"I know it's something I am capable of. After all, I scored more than 60 when I was at Celtic.
