Villa skipper Barry: It could've been more

Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry says they could have scored more after yesterday's 5-1 romp over Birmingham City.

Speaking after the final whistle he told avfc.co.uk: "That's the best we've played in a derby in my time here. All game we caused them problems and on another day it could have been six or seven. The keeper made a couple of good saves but I think we'll settle for five!

"It was a great all round performance. I think it was pretty tight in the opening exchanges but once we got that first goal it seemed to settle us down and the confidence was there that we've seen in the last few matches. Overall everyone performed brilliantly."

The Villa skipper added: "The lads were really focussed on this game. We've still got loads to play for and we knew a win today would set us up nicely. That's what we tried to achieve.

"We got the performance with it and five goals against your local rivals - it doesn't get much better than that.

"There was a great atmosphere and as soon as we got that first goal it relaxed them a little bit, because the edge is always there with the fans too in these games."
