Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood is proud of his grounding at Crewe Alexandra.

Westwood joined Villa on transfer deadline day for £2 million.

"At Crewe's training ground, where the swimming pool is, you've got the million pound wall as they call it," Westwood told the Sunday Mercury.

"You can reel off the players who are on that wall. You've got Danny Murphy, Dean Ashton, Seth Johnson, Nicky Maynard, Luke Varney... and so on.

"Nick Powell's just recently gone up as well following his move to Manchester United.

"Me? Hopefully, I'll be up there too!

"The million pound wall has got painted pictures, which are nice to have around the place. Crewe commission an artist and bring someone in specially to do them. You don't have to sit for that, they do it from a photograph."
