Aston Villa signing Scott Sinclair wants to prove himself Premier League quality.
Sinclair knows critics believe he was happy to sit in the reserves picking up big wages at Manchester City.
Ahead of today's trip to Arsenal, Sinclair, still only 25, declared: "I want to show everyone - and most of all myself - that it's not just about the money and the contract I had a City.
"I want to be back out there, playing games and enjoying being in love with football again. I've been through a hell of a lot. But I'm still here and hungry.
"A lot of people out there will write me off and say he doesn't care. They have a certain image of me. But those who know me, know that's not true.
"Yes, I still go out shopping and for the meals with my girlfriend. But I couldn't lock myself away just because I wasn't getting games.
"No player ever goes to a club thinking they're not going to play. I made the move to City because I wanted to play Champions League and to win trophies.
"But sometimes it doesn't work out like that. That's part and parcel of football."
