Skysports.com claims Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey is in talks with Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion. Villa are willing to offload Shorey with the former Reading man not figuring in Martin O'Neill's long-term plans.
Shorey made only three Premier League starts last season and spent spells on loan at Nottingham Forest and Fulham.
Shorey is believed to be currently at West Brom for talks and if all goes to plan he could become Di Matteo's latest signing.
