Aston Villa midfielder Jean Makoun is close to joining French club Rennes on loan.
The Cameroon international, who initially joined Villa from Lyon in January 2011, is set to make the move to Rennes on a season-long loan.
"Talks are at an advanced stage between Villa and French Ligue 1 side Rennes with a view to Jean II Makoun returning to France on a season-long loan," read a statement released on Villa's official website.
29-year old Makoun kicked off his career in France with Lille in 2001 before his 2008 move to Lyon and then onto Villa 18 months ago prior to his season-long stay with Greek club Olympiakos.
