Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert was disappointed with his sides performance in Sunday's massive 8-0 defeat at Chelsea.
Lambert's young Villa team were hammered pillar to post by a rampant Blues line-up just a week after they shocked Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield and the boss could offer no excuses for the massive trough in their output.
"Everything that could go wrong went wrong. We have been on a really good run but we got beaten up today by a really good side. We were second best," he told the club's official website.
"We never turned up. We have been beaten pretty heavily. But we were second best all over In the second half it could have been more to be perfectly honest. All credit to Chelsea, they beat us up."
He added: "You always learn when you win, lose or draw. That will be a wake-up call for us, that. Things have been going really fine for us. It was only Manchester United, Man City and Chelsea now who have turned us over. We will bounce back!
"We only have two days to mull over it but we have to go again against Tottenham on Wednesday. I am sure whoever plays on Wednesday will atone for that."
