Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland has agreed to join Newcastle United on loan for the remainder of the season.
The24-year Irishman is believed to have agreed terms with the Magpies and the short-term deal will be complete subject to Monday's medical at St James' Park.
Ireland only arrived at Villa Park in the summer from Manchester City and has struggled to gain regular game time under Gerard Houllier who is prepared to let him leave, especially after recently bringing in Jean Makoun from Lyon.
