Villa's Agbonlahor plays down talk of England return

Gabby Agbonlahor has calmed claims that he could be soon set for an England recall.

The Aston Villa attacker has player for the Three Lions since 2009 but his recent form in scoring six goals in seven matches suggests he could be back in the mix for the national team although he is not thinking about that prospect.

"I'm not getting carried away," he said after scoring a brace in Villa's 2-1 win over Norwich City on Saturday..

"The way the England squad is now, there are different sort of call-ups.

"He's (Roy Hodgson) got players in there even if they are not playing - like (Arsenal's) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He's not played much and he gets a call."

He added: "It's different to when Fabio (Capello) was here because he picked players on form. But it's just different now.

"I don't know whether I'm playing as well now as I was when I was called up. Playing for England is a pleasure but I'm not really worrying about that now. My focus is on Villa."
