Villa's Agbonlahor insists he was disappointed not to go to Denmark

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor had to pull out of the England squad for Wednesday night's friendly with Denmark in Copenhagen because of family issues.

The 24-year old insists he was sad to miss the match but had to attend to important matters which the England officials were well aware of.

"There are a few family matters I had to deal with, but I was disappointed not to go (to Denmark)," he said.

"I spoke to them and they are fine with it so I look forward to future squads.

"Of course, I love playing for my country and I think if you ask any of the players who have had to pull out it is not the sort of thing you want to do.

"But unfortunately these things do happen, you just have to get on with it and report to the next squad.

"These things happen and you have to pull out, whether it is injuries or in my case family reasons, you have to pull out now and then."
