Aston Villa are chasing AS Roma fullback John Arne Riise.
The Norway international has spoken openly about a return to England and former club Liverpool.
Villa are keen, where Riise would arrive as a replacement for frozen out former Reds teammate Stephen Warnock.
Villa boss Gerard Houllier and No2 Gary McAllister both worked with Riise at Anfield and are keen on a reunion.
Riise has just over a year to run on his existing Roma deal.
