Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is ready to bid for Reading striker Kevin Doyle.

Doyle has two years left on his current contract but has already been linked with Chelsea.

O'Neill wants to sign a striker in January with concerns over John Carew's fitness, Marlon Harewood not figuring in the first team and Luke Moore looking for a move.
