Aston Villa are making a swap bid for Blackburn Rovers wing-back Martin Olsson.

The Mirror says Paul Lambert is ready to pay £2.5million AND Stephen Warnock to lure Olsson from Blackburn.

Aston Villa boss Lambert will rival Stoke in the battle to sign Sweden international left-back Olsson, who has handed in a transfer request at Ewood Park following Rovers' relegation from the Premier League.

And Lambert is prepared to throw in Warnock - a Lancashire lad and a Blackburn player from 2007-09 - as part of the deal after telling the former England defender he has no future at Villa.
